Zero Waste Swaps
Howdy everyone!
More and more we are learning just how crap plastic is for the environment. My journey with reducing waste has been one of trial and error.
Living with 3 other girls at University made me realise just how much my actions had in impact (no shade – love my Dunedin flatties 😊 ). While they used body wash, I used bar soap. While they used bottled shampoo, I used solid shampoo. I realised at the end of the month how much waste was going into our recycling of theirs compared to mine.
It has been slighter harder to navigate the zero waste journey with living with my boyfriend Harley. It’s been hard trying to find a balance between zero waste and our allocated budget particularly around groceries. Sometimes there just isn’t enough to spend the extra $3 on a glass jar of peanut butter versus a plastic one (I feel guilty even writing this out).
Another recent struggle has been navigation shampoo and conditioners. I LOVE the Lush Trichomania solid shampoo and using it I find I don’t need an extra conditioner……however in recent years I’ve discovered just how bad sulphates and silicones are for curly hair and have yet not found a sulphate free solid shampoo ☹
I have to remind myself that I’m not perfect and sometimes I may not get it right. But tiny steps make BIG changes! #rememberthat
